What is your design process?

Over the last decade as a florist, I have cultivated rich relationships with Bay Area flower farms from Santa Cruz to Sebastapol. Each week of the growing season, it is a joy to follow along as the floral availability evolves and changes as the weather warms then cools.

I pull from these farms and my experience following the seasons to design floral arrangements unique to you and the time of year. I love to know what colors you’d like to see, the setting your ceremony will be in, and any other design elements you’d like to be considered (inspiration images are always helpful!). I use that information to translate your vision through our local floral availability.

What sustainability measures do you take?

Taking care of our planet is central to our mission at Bewilder. With that in mind, we often turn down inquiries that extend beyond what we feel is healthy for our environment. We uphold the following measures:

We only use locally sourced or garden-grown flowers. The carbon emitted from flying flowers around the world does not sit well with us, which often means working extra hard to source our flowers from small farms and turning down flashy imported blooms. But on the plus side, this means we are supporting farms that are regenerating the soil, increasing biodiversity, and feeding pollinators, a net positive for the planet.

We do not use floral foam and reuse our vessels and mechanics whenever possible. Floral foam is toxic and leaks microplastics into our waterways. We opt for reusable mechanics instead and work to source all our vessels second hand or from local craftspeople.

We hand-dye our silk ribbon with plants. This keeps plastic ribbon out of our landfills and harmful synthetic dye chemicals out of our water.

We recycle and compost our waste. At the end of your event, if the flowers are at all salvageable we donate them to local hospices. If not, they go into our compost pile that will help to feed next year’s crop. And the cycle continues.

Do you set up the flowers?

You can choose to pick up your flowers or have them delivered and installed at a minimum floral total of $2000 with an additional 25% labor fee.

How far in advance should I lock in my date?

We start booking a year in advance, so the sooner you get in touch the better. Although sometimes you can get lucky and book as little as a month out. Fill out our inquiry form to see if we are available.

I just emailed or filled out your inquiry form, when will I hear back?

I try to get back if I am available for the date within one week. Bewilder is a one-woman operation, so on a typical wedding week, I am in the studio and away from my computer from Thursday through Sunday, and then I take Mondays to rest.

I just received an initial proposal, can I make changes?

Absolutely! The quote you receive is just a quick outline that we will customize as we go. The aim is largely to give you a feel for how I would price your project and begin to dream up the designs for all the pieces that will be included in the day.

From here I love to hear what you love and don’t love and see images that inspire you. You do not have to commit to any of the line items until your final payment is due two weeks from the event date.
